The Top 5 Questions About BrainStation’s Online Courses
Although educational institutions continue to march confidently into the online courses space, it can be daunting for prospective students to follow in their footsteps towards this uncharted territory. This is why we’ve created this post, to equip students with the knowledge needed to be successful in their pursuit of building their digital skills through our online courses. Here you’ll find the answers to the 5 most commonly asked questions about the BrainStation Online Learning experience.
What is the BrainStation Learning Portal and how do I learn through it?
The BrainStation Learning Portal is a custom-built platform that brings an interactive classroom experience to the digital space. Lectures are live-streamed by our Educators who are leaders in their field; they are here to answer your questions, facilitate group discussion, and screen-share when you’re stuck. A day in the life of a full-time Web Development Remote student, for example, combines these lectures with group work, labs, individual work periods and peer-to-peer programming. With all of our part-time and full-time offerings, you’re given the opportunity to practice your skills and apply your knowledge to challenges after being exposed to new concepts. All of our offerings go beyond hard-skills content, offering professional development and guest lectures to complement your learning. No two days are the same, keeping you engaged so that you get the most out of the experience and are able to leverage your newfound skills to achieve digital success.
What happens if I can’t make an online class?
Our students lead busy lives and many work full-time while pursuing digital skills education. At BrainStation we understand that, and it is one of the main reasons we offer online courses. To make the online program as flexible as possible, every live lecture is recorded so that it can be watched up until the start of the next lecture. This means that no content is sacrificed if a class is missed, and although you won’t be able to ask questions in real-time when you watch a recorded lecture, a 1:1 session can be scheduled with an Educator if you’re in need of extra help.
How does BrainStation help me find a job?
Professional development and the desire to switch careers are two of the primary reasons why students take digital skills courses. We build professional development directly into our curriculum to ensure that you are prepared to move forward in your position or make the jump to a new one once you graduate. For example, our full-time Web Development Remote program offers Power Hour Friday’s featuring guest lecturers, which is an excellent networking opportunity for students to gain insight into hiring companies and build connections. Educators also run resume and cover letter building workshops to help you put your best foot forward. Our dedicated career support staff conduct meetings with full-time students post-graduation to check-in throughout your job search. Our programs are tried and tested, and you can learn more about our student success through our 2017 Student Outcomes Report.
How does BrainStation help with financing online courses?
We are always looking for ways to work with our students to find a financing solution that fits your needs. BrainStation has a variety of Scholarships for both our part-time courses and full-time programs. The application process is straightforward and many students receive scholarships to help them fund their course. In fact, we recently announced that we have awarded over $1 million in Scholarships. Beyond scholarships, we also offer flexible Student Payment Plans depending on your individual needs.
Why choose BrainStation’s online courses over other self-paced online courses?
BrainStation’s live lecture learning model challenges your preconceived ideas of what an online course is. Gone are the tedious, self-paced activities and long hours spent trying to teach yourself complex concepts. Learning is enhanced with the presence of our best-in-class Educators providing support and real-world insight into the industry. In contrast to self-paced curriculum, our courses are constantly being updated to reflect the most relevant information and the latest in technology.
