By BrainStation January 23, 2017

Get to know Sarah Seymour, who is joining us for our Winter 2017 Web Development course in Toronto. Learn why she decided to take the course and what she hopes to accomplish in 10 weeks.

What is your education and career background? Your current role?

I graduated from the Curtin University of Technology in Australia with a BSc in Environmental Health. After a couple of years, I began to feel creatively stunted and pursued a career in fashion E-Commerce. I am currently employed as a Stylist.

What course are you enrolled in for this cohort and what made you decide to take it?

I am enrolled in the Web Development course. For many years, I have been wanting to further my understanding of code, and to facilitate my career within E-Commerce.

How did you hear about the program?

I randomly began talking to a customer about wanting to study web development, she happened to work for BrainStation, and here I am.

What are you most excited to learn?

To be honest, it’s difficult to say as the subject matter as a whole is interesting to me. I guess I am most excited to garner hands on experience in a topic I have been curious of for some time.

If you had to pick a favourite tech company doing awesome things – who would it be and why?

Uber is probably one of those companies I am most intrigued by due to the way they have changed and shaped the field across transportation/delivery and the speed in which they have infiltrated different markets.

Favourite spot to spend an afternoon in the city?

I love going to Kensington, hitting the vintage stores, drinks and a bite to eat.

How do you plan on applying your newfound skills, personally and/or professionally?

I plan on facilitating my current workplace with minor changes to their web platform.
