Get to know Cam Healy, who is joining us for our Winter 2017 Digital Marketing course in Toronto. Learn why he decided to take the course and what he hopes to accomplish in 10 weeks.
What is your education and career background?
I attended Western University where I graduated with an Honours Specialization in Fine Arts. After hanging up the skates in first year I fell into events because of the extra time I had. Shortly after university I started West of Contra, an event marketing company, and Early Mercy, a bar on King West. Currently I head up the marketing and branding for both.
What course are you enrolled in for this cohort and what made you decide to take it?
At BrainStation I am taking the Digital Marketing course. It’s important that I stay up to date on the latest tips, processes and programs.
How did you hear about the program?
I heard about the program through a friend of mine from Western, Jay Field, who started BrainStation back in 2012.
What are you most excited to learn?
I’m looking forward to being in a room of like-minded people and industry experts. In my opinion it’s the best type of environment to fuel creativity and learning.
If you had to pick a favourite tech company doing awesome things – who would it be and why?
Hyr Inc. is a real-time market place that makes it easier for business owners and talent to find each other. It helps businesses save money, and connects go-getters with shift-work, all on demand. The workplace is changing and this type of platform makes sense as we’re seeing more and more people with multiple jobs and flexible schedules.
Favourite spot to spend an afternoon in the city?
Trinity Bellwoods Park.
How do you plan on applying your newfound skills, personally and/or professionally?
The adaptive curriculum provides an active and hands-on education that I know will translate to real-life applications that will help keep my businesses relevant and successful.
