By week 8, the course is quickly wrapping up all new content, and students are now buckling down to make sure we all understand everything that’s been taught so far. Whether you want to focus on the design-side, or really get to understand the server-side of web development, week 8 is the week to really review all the material and take advantage of all the TA’s and Instructors to learn everything that you can.

Personally, I enjoy the design-side of web development and because it’s of interest, I know that I can read up on it for myself, and pick up on things on my own. I lack confidence with the server-side and JavaScript so, I decided to spend the week on a little project for a friend – creating a simple blogging platform using Angular and Node JS to post, update, and delete content. Through the project, I had the opportunity to really understand how to use APIs, install and use NPMs, and reinforced how to structure environments moving forward (I did my absolute best to monopolize all the TA and Instructors times all week, haha).

In the next, and last, 2 weeks, each student will be working on independent projects. We’ll have the opportunity to choose from 3 options: 1) build a blogging website with an existing CMS and really flex our UI/UX muscles to create a beautiful project; 2) build a blog without a CMS, in order to post, update, delete, etc content; or 3) create a website for an existing local business and our Instructors will act as the client so that we’re able to experience real-life client-interaction and experience.
