New York is an increasingly attractive city for tech companies, but it's missing one thing: Web Developers.

With 3 weeks left, my brain is left feeling 10 times bigger, and me feeling 10 times smarter.
So far, we’ve learned how to implement front-end webpage designs via HTML and CSS, and are also able to create cool animated functions (types of scrolling, the way a window opens when you click a button, etc) via some advanced CSS and jQuery. We’ve also learned how to use Angular JS to create a functioning website (i.e. a blog or online store) where users can upload new information, update it, delete it, and view it. Crazy talk, right?
In the next few weeks, we’ll be introduced to back-end web development and deployment of our web apps. First, we were introduced to Node.js to develop server-side web applications. We then learned 2 different types of databases: Postgres and Mongo, understanding the differences between them and how to write the same web apps using both. This helped us practice creating our own custom APIs, as well as figuring out how to implement existing ones (like Stripe for online payments). We’ve also just covered how to post our web apps/sites online via Amazon’s AWS, which was definitely helpful to go over in class – it would have probably taken me weeks to figure it out otherwise.
We’ll be introduced to our final project in the next week or so to finally put together everything that we’ve learned, and online. I’m excited to see what each group creates, and share via a real working domain name for you to check out for yourself!
