Week 1 – What a Week!
I’m happy and proud to say that week 1 of Visual Design at Brainstation is done and dusted! As with all new experiences, getting accustomed to the space, the new group and instructors is always exciting.
I didn’t quite know what to expect on the first day but was pleasantly surprised that we’d be getting hands-on right away. I can’t speak for the rest of my classmates, but I firmly believe that hands-on practice with programs like Photoshop and the other creative suite applications is the only way to really master them. That said, we definitely weren’t without help. From the moment class started, Theresa and Martin lead us along the introduction to the course and the tools, and gave us all gentle nudges here and there as we awkwardly navigated our new digital tools.
One of the things I mentioned in my previous post was the value in being a creator and creating things. By the end of the class, we had learned enough to create some really cool GIF animations from our own shapes and elements on Photoshop (sorry Jay!).
I’m really looking forward to diving deeper into our projects next week, and further mastering the myriad tricks and techniques to help make a great final site design.
See you next week!
