We started the evening off with introductions. We quickly learned each student in the room came from a unique background with diverse experiences. We had students from neuroscience backgrounds to finance backgrounds – all with the goal of learning product management!

Balaji, our course instructor has been in the industry for over a decade and has launched some cool products such as the Blackberry Messenger. Balaji began the course by asking everyone what they thought a product manager did and didn’t do. As a class, we had the opportunity to differentiate the roles of a Project Manager and a Product Manager. Then, we discussed some interesting products which came about as a result of accidents (or “happy accidents” as Balaji called them). Cool Fact – The microwave was actually invented by the US military!

The class finished with some time to mingle with the instructors and students!
