I think one of the best parts about learning how to code is how many resources are readily available online! I’ve been swamped at work the past month and unfortunately wasn’t able to make it to a few classes, but with the great updates, and course syllabus posted, it isn’t too difficult to get caught up – you just have to make sure to do your part, practice.

Last week, we were introduced to JavaScript, a completely new language. It’s so interesting how different languages make up different parts of a web page! HTML is the basic structure of your page with all the content; CSS paints your page all pretty; and JavaScript puts it all in motion (literally). It’s been fun to learn the basics of JS and see the potential it has on providing viewers with a completely different online experience. From the type of scrolling, to timed pop-ups (like when you’re online shopping and right you start scrolling, they ask you for your email to send you deals, and you say yes to deals and submit it), JS can really make a difference with the user experience.

Now, we’re working on our final projects. We have the freedom to make our own webpage/portfolio, a website for a business of your choice, or make your own Tumblr theme. Since I’ve been dabbling with Tumblr for quite sometime now (and already have all the content there), I’ve decided on going the Tumblr route! I’m excited to see how I’ll pull together everything I’ve learned so far and share what I come up with soon!
