New York is an increasingly attractive city for tech companies, but it's missing one thing: Web Developers.

Class begins with a review of what was covered in week 8, and is followed by the announcement of a new challenge. Today we will be building a fully functioning and professional looking website together as a class. From scratch. In one sitting. I know, a seemingly daunting task. But I believe in us.
We start out with an image. It is a screenshot of a website’s homepage. Then we are provided the tools to create the homepage and a blank slate to begin our HTML. Let the coding begin.
From previous classes, I have come to find that being taught in this way has been the most effective method in becoming comfortable writing my own code. Beginning from scratch is a great reminder of the basics, and doing it as a class means it will be a collaborative effort. Much less intimidating.
I’ve also come to enjoy the process of constructing a webpage. You begin with a framework and build on it, customizing as your project grows. As you build, you are constantly required to be cognizant of the big picture, the final product you are trying to achieve, all while paying attention to the fine details, the styling, the colouring, and other unique features. Organization is definitely key in this process.
It’s the end of class, and boom! We have a fully functioning webpage complete with JQuery plugins and animations, CSS and style sheets, Bootstrap components and frameworks, along with a little bit of everything else we have learned up until this point.
Piece. Of. Cake.
Next week we will be presenting our final projects. I am looking forward to seeing what my classmates have come up with!
