Today’s class was structured a little bit unlike any class we have had before. Today Dan put us through what he described as a “gauntlet of code” that would test our coding knowledge up to this point, but maybe more than that, our focus. We were welcomed to our very first “code-along”.
This gauntlet of code required us to take another look at the official website of one of Toronto’s most unique and innovative providers of gourmet corn and gumbo, “Gerald’s Corn and Gumbo Shack”. Gerald’s is world renowned, but also, extremely fictional.
Gerald’s is the collective brainchild of our class, and every week as a group, we take some time to update their website using the new tools and strategies we have learned. It has turned into an excellent supplemental tool allowing us to keep track of our progress and experiment on a practical level how to implement HTML, CSS, and Bootstrap capabilities.
This week we worked extensively utilizing Bootstrap’s grid system and explored the wide variety of components available to modernize the look of HTML elements in our webpages.
