I love BrainStation. Why you might ask, it’s only Week 1? Well, instead of overloading us with information on the first day I arrived to a swag bag (or box to be exact), a fun icebreaker intro circle with cheesy references to celebrities and sound tracks, and a pizza dinner. Without saying a word they taught a fundamental marketing strategy - treat your customers well (especially with branded swag) and they will be free advertising. Not only have I been carrying around my water bottle all week, but it’s been a conversation piece for me to talk about how stoked I am to be doing their course.
Another big win for my first day was the building of community. We were encouraged to ask our peers questions before the instructors – I like this idea. It’s about learning together and figuring it out instead of just getting an easy answer. We also have Slack comments going, both in and out of class, with teachers and students.
So we’re off to a great start!
