Last night we were able to get a taste of Web Development from our very own BrainStation educator, Alex Brown. With numerous years as a Senior Front End Developer for Appnovation Technologies, Alex brings a lot of industry insight to the classroom.  If you want to learn more, check out BrainStation’s Course Page for Intro to Web Development.

This workshop was great for those who had no prior knowledge of web development. It covered basic definitions and gave students the opportunity to get their feet wet in a little coding. Here were two key definitions that were discussed:

What is HTML?

Hyper Text Markup Language

This is basically what structures your content on a website.

What is CSS?

Cascading Style Sheets

This is what takes care of the presentation of the content on the website.

Using BrainStation’s code editor app, students were able to experiment with both HTML and CSS and see how both are used to structure and style a website.

If you are new to designing websites, or are interested in diving deeper into the subject, come and learn from industry experts, such as Alex in our upcoming Intro to Web Development course in January. Don’t miss out!
