Can’t Miss Events: Toronto

By Mauricio Poveda April 21, 2015

The BrainStation Team has rounded up our list of the can’t miss events and festivals in Toronto this week. We have you covered whether you’re looking for something active, cultural or just plain indulgent.

Spring Sessions of Toronto’s Festival of Beer
Live music, street food and more than 20 breweries makes for a can’t miss event in our opinion. Spending time outdoors sampling some of the best beer the city has to offer for only $30.00 is our idea of a great weekend. Check out their website here for more information and tickets.

Kensington Krawl Food Tour
Kensington Market has a reputation for all things eclectic and unique – their Krawl is no exception. Tour your way through the Market learning about the history from the vendors themselves. Included in your tour is 6 tastings and an alcoholic beverage. Get acquainted with a Toronto treasure while sampling some delicious food. For tickets, click here.

Hot Docs Festival
When you’ve had your fill of beer and food, head over to Bloor Hot Docs Cinema for some mental stimulation. This year’s festival, which has been underway since April 23rd, features 210 documentaries, so everyone is sure to find something of interest to them. Check out the schedule here.

Jean-Michel Basquiat: Now’s the Time
A can’t miss on this list, the Basquiat retrospective currently on display at the AGO features 85 works of the acclaimed artist. Basquiat’s critically and visually engaging works vaulted him to popularity in New York in the 80s. Don’t miss the first Canadian major retrospective of the artist’s work, which ends May 10th. For more information check out their website here.

CN Tower Climb
While it may be difficult to find local Torontonians around the CN Tower on an average day, this weekend the Toronto landmark will be packed with people climbing the 1,776 steps. The annual CN Tower climb draws huge crowds every year, and is surprisingly fun despite the number of stairs involved. To register for the public walk on Saturday, April 25th, which benefits the WWF, follow the link here.
